Living, Innovative, Fully Engineered,
Long-lasting and Advanced Bioreplacement
The LIFELAB Programme arises from the scientific determination to tackle the medical challenges of tissue and organ failure, with particular reference to heart, lungs, liver and kidneys.
Through a multidisciplinary, synergic approach, the LIFELAB Programme aims at developing novel therapeutic solutions for the treatment of tissue and organ failure, by joining together the most prominent Research in Regenerative Medicine at the University and Hospital of Padua.
By applying specific principles of Regenerative Medicine, LIFELAB aims at conceiving and developing adequate tools to treat end-stage diseases, by regenerating the whole organs, such as the heart, as well by reconstructing tissues, such as auricles, trachea, larynx, esophagus, skeletal muscle, pro-regenerative patches, urinary conduits, and nerves.
Additionally, the LIFELAB Programme will develop novel approaches of gene therapy, nanotechnology, biomimetic strategies in order to optimize tissue regeneration in lungs, kidneys and liver, as well as the manufacture of artificial organs with higher biocompatibility at the blood interface.
