L.I.F.E. L.A.B.

The LIFELAB Programme arises from the scientific determination to tackle the medical challenges of tissue and organ failure, with particular reference to heart, lungs, liver and kidneys.
Through a multidisciplinary, synergic approach, the LIFELAB Programme aims at developing novel therapeutic solutions for the treatment of tissue and organ failure, by joining together the most prominent Research in Regenerative Medicine at the University and Hospital of Padua.
By applying specific principles of Regenerative Medicine, LIFELAB aims at conceiving and developing adequate tools to treat end-stage diseases, by regenerating the whole organs, such as the heart, as well by reconstructing tissues, such as auricles, trachea, larynx, esophagus, skeletal muscle, pro-regenerative patches, urinary conduits, and nerves.
Additionally, the LIFELAB Programme will develop novel approaches of gene therapy, nanotechnology, biomimetic strategies in order to optimize tissue regeneration in lungs, kidneys and liver, as well as the manufacture of artificial organs with higher biocompatibility at the blood interface.

The aim of this section is to explore new research approaches in the gene therapy, drug delivery and extracorporeal perfusion fields applying stem cells and their products.

The aim of this section is to test biomimetic substitutes of tessues and organs developed in laboratory and their translation in the clinical and surgical reality.

The aim of this section is to create biocompatible matrices, with the use of new technologies as the 3D bio-printer, for the develop of artificial organs.

This section offers services and management to all the groups involved in the Programme LIFELAB in order to develop and implement all the research activities.
